Ahead of its retail launch, EA has already released the first patch for its 3D RTS sequel The Lord of The Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth 2. This update brings your retail game to v1.1 and improves stability of the game and fixes a few desyncs.
BFME 2 takes part in the North where a battle is raging between Sauron's forces vs. elves and dwarves. It will be possible to create/customize your own hero, apart from known figures such as Arwin, and become more powerful as you progress in the game. While BFME was all land based, the sequel will also take the action on the sea, naval battles included.Get the Battle for Middle-Earth 2 v1.01 patch (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=32163) (12mb) off WorthPlaying.

Heh, yeah I read the title and said to myself "huh? Is that game even out yet?"
Guess not.
I didn't like the first one, so I probably won't bother with the second. I'm not a big RTS fan anyway though.

Battle for Middle Earth had so much potential, but they keept scraping the good things and it ended up being a pretty bad normal EA game. The demo doesn't seem that much better, and with all those races it is probably gonna be a bitch to balance. A damn shame to, because I want to play dwarfs.

If BFME stood for Battle Field Middle Earth, I'd probably pick this up.

The second is great, but stalemates seems to be how every conflict ends. You can just keep mass producing units and towers to the point that you can thwart any attack off. And if you lose your army, just use your tiered magic powers to annihilate the enemies army.
The game just ends in stalemates everytime with two (or more) competant players against each other.

Middle Earth:Total War would have been even better.

Well, since we live in a world with buggy games being pushed out the door quickly, I'm glad they can at least have the patches ready to go when I install the game! I am looking forward to this one.

Like a totally free world map where you could do what ever you want. Massive battles not small ones. And many other things.

I was actually kinda glad when the demo didn't get me excited about the game :-(

Pretty funny to patch an unreleased game.
I'm just now playing through BFME and just about to assault the black gates. I must say there isn't much challenge to the game and the use of calvary + archers + heros and not to mention the ability to summon hordes of allies in an instant really doesn't do much for me.
I very rarely have to replenish my armies as I move about the map which means if I do need to replenish one I can't ever get the upgrades because to get the upgrades my barracks/etc have to produce x number of units first. At least I can blow through this game quickly and mark it off my list of unplayed games in my collection.
Not a good design overall. I'll skip the sequel for sure.

I found the demo really gorgeous... and completely devoid of interesting new gameplay things. It was like being in 1995 again, only with prettier graphics.

Apparently the game doesn't support widescreen resolutions. I guess that is some kind of forbidden technology that only rogue programmers have access to, or something.
