Following up on the last Mother 3/EarthBound 2 update (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9922), Itoi-san has released even more Mother 3 screens on his Japanese site. (http://www.1101.com/MOTHER3/index.html) Special thanks to Starmen.net (http://www.starmen.net) for providing the English translation! (http://starmen.net/mother3/mother3world/)

This GBA title is due out in Japan on April 20, 2006. Currently there is no word on any translation/localization for other territories. So let Nintendo hear from you if you want this title in Enlgish!

Itoi's new update also reveals a "Deluxe Box" set that will include a copy of Mother 3, a limited-edition Mother 3 Game Boy Micro, and (coolest of all!) a real life Franklin badge!

Once again a huge thanks to Starmen.net (http://www.starmen.net)!!!

Don't be a fool. The graphics are perfectly fine for a GBA title. You want cutting-edge, got play (watch?) something on a PSP.

Thanks for posting my thread on the front page. Unfortunatly, I didn't format it too well for a front-page thread. Be sure to check the links (especially Starmen.net's translation page) for more screens, and pics of the Mother 3 micro and the Franklin badge.

Anyone think there's still a chance they'll release the Mother 1 & 2 cartridge stateside?

I don't own a micro and I haven't played earthbound yet if I can import that gameboy for like 120 I would. The famicom micro made me mad because they didn't make it look like a NES controller for over here and I think the gold/red looked ugly. This looks like the first limited edition that I want, though I doubt I could get it for 120.

The series has been around since 1989 and has only had 3 installments.

I fucking love EarthBound.

I think Mother 1 and Earthbound (Mother2) will both probably show up for Revolution download center. Didn't they already have have a completed translation of Mother1 ready to go?

I really dug Earthbound. I'd love to play another game in the series. Fuzzy pickles!

I'd pay $80 for a earthbound 0-1-2 pack if released translated in the states.

Bit of confusion there. Mother (NES) was never officially released in America. Nintendo had the whole thing translated and ready to go, but didn't release it. Mother 2 (SNES) was released in America as EarthBound; the English rom of Mother (NES) has since been dubbed EarthBound Zero by the emulation community. Mother 3 would thus be EarthBound 2, should it see release in America.

And if there is any justice in this world, Nintendo will release the Mother 1+2 GBA combo cart and Mother 3 to the rest of the world. One of the reasons why I'm trying to keep EvAv abreast of the Mother 3 news is to hopefully get Nintendo to realize the potential for these games outside of Japan.

I don't think the Box Set will actually have a Micro - it's more likely that it's just a skin, one of those decals, because that's apparently something you can do with the Micro. Just saying.

I would be so happy if they brought out all of them here, playing all the Earthbound games on my SP/DS would be just too cool. Thanks god that hideous looking 3D version of Mother 3 never saw a release, this look like a sequel should.

I don't think he was confused at all. He seemed right on top of it.

As for keeping EA abreast of Mother news, way to go. Keep it up!

You're right. Coulda sworn I read that he'd give anything for a "Mother 0-1-2 combo" or something. It appears Major Scud was on the up and up the whole time.

No, the deluxe edition will very likely come with a micro. For one, when a high-profile game comes out in Japan, its not uncommon for super-awesome deluxe # Reload! editions to come with a limited-edition console: RE4 did this with the GameCube and I think MGS2 or 3 did this with the PS2 as well. More evidence: compare the price for the game alone on Itoi's site (¥4,800) to the price for the deluxe set (¥18,000). That'd be one hell of a faceplate!

Forget the micro that comes with the deluxe, I want that Franklin Badge! It protects you from lightning!

Damn right. And reflects it back at the enemy!

Something tells me I'm going to be eBaying that thing in the not-too-distant future.

Oh hell yes. I wasn't going to buy a micro, because I see it as a waste with my SP, but if I can get one what reps M/EB I'd do anything! And a gd franklin badge. Jesus. It would be cool if it came with a key chain of the Casey Bat too. I'm going to go scratch and sniff my old Earthbound strategy guide.

No, it is a bundle. It comes with a special red micro and the game and some extra stuff. It looks really tempting. The micro is so impractical but looks like so much fun.

Here is my dream which is not practical. A black gameboy micro with a black faceplate. I get a play-yan to play mp3s and movies and takes sd cards. I get a 2 GB sd card and put the entire first season of Sealab on there as well as a messload of mp3s. I have a couple gba carts in my pocket to swap out and I am good to go. Yeah, movies would be small on there, but they would still be sharp and the novelty would be worth it. It would technically be inferior to the psp but it would be way cooler. And really easy to transport around.
Some day...

Yes! Bring this bundle over seas and I will buy it even it even if it means I have to sell everything I have. YOU DON'T NEED CLOTHES TO ENJOY THIS SERIES, JUST BUY IT. :D

Does anyone know how much of Earthbound 2 for the N64 (or DD) they had completed? I've always been curious, as I only saw a few screenshots.

And I've always wondered why it's called "Mother" in Japan. I mean, I don't know why it's called 'Earthbound' here, but I was just curious.

There's some good information on EB64 on Starman's site
http://starmen.net/eb64/

Depending on the report from Nintendo, it was anywhere from 50-90% finished. One of the huge hitches in the game being released was it was going to be for the 64dd device and shortly through development they switched it over to a regular cart, which slowed them down significantly.

Which is too bad, they had some interesting ideas for the 64dd, such as using a real time clock for daylight, a forest that would grow realtime. Many persistant world effects etc.

With that said, I cannot wait to get me some Eb3... ahh yeah.
