Thanks again to TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) for the scoop (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10304/Xbox-360-Transfer-Kit-Revealed/).
Maxconsole has the world's first scoop on the new Xbox 360 transfer kit and complimentary software called Xchange 360 from the makers of Action Replay.
The Xbox 360 transfer kit will allow you to transfer game saves, downloads, user data, gamer pics and the like. Thanks to the Xchange 360 application, the Xbox 360 transfer kit is very easy to use. Just plug in your memory card into the docking port and connect it to any USB enabled PC.
The retail price is expected to be around $14.99.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do know that if they want to display the 'approved for Xbox 360' logo then they do have to have it certified by Microsoft.

I wonder if the emulation is good enough, that saved game exploits ( that let you run homebrew/copied software ) on the Xbox, will work on the 360! :D

Even if it's not...here comes the linux hack. They really couldn't make it any more easy for them...
I'm glad they've fixed Microsoft's complete f-up with the save games. It's ridiculous to not be able to migrate your save game from one XBox to another. What the hell are memory cards for then???

Will this let you cheat?
For instance, will you be able to download game saves that are uber?
I got an Action Replay for my Xbox because I wanted to transfer game saves and this was an added "feature". The only time I used it was in KOTOR II (it wouldn't work for Ninja Gaiden). I had already beaten KOTOR II legitimately, but it was fun to go back through it as an uber character that had every freaking skill and insane stats.
I was so like teh Jedi Mastuh!
Anyway, I don't really need to transfer saves now that co-op games let you play online and competitive games either disable or share unlocks, but I'd probably by this again just to download fun cheats. . . or cheats for the rare incredibly difficult games out there like Ninja Gaiden.

I have no idea why MS didn't just let you transfer data from the XBox to the 360.
It makes no damn sense.

Probably because it's a huge security risk. If people only used it to transfer legitimite save games, that would be fine. But that's not always the case.
And, indeed, this device is probably going to usher in a new era of hacks/exploits/cheating on the X360. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted...

Can you transfer downloaded games off of Live and ripped music files? Because it's going to be a nasty day when Microsoft releases a decent-sized hard drive (the current one is too small by a factor of at least five) and everybody has to transfer their teeny-tiny HDD's content over to their new normal-sized HDD.

I love this. Now I can buy gamerpics of the marketplace and sell them to other people online. Hoorah!
Will it allow me to copy other people's games and then use them to get achievements without doing shit myself?

Well Sl1pstream, at least you're honest.

I know. You can reward my honesty by transferring money to my account.
Or...
maybe I should've made my last post a little different, as I don't really see me doing any of this. If I do want to transfer saves between systems, I'll be more than happy to use a standard memory card.

No. Any data like that is signed with a ID derived from your gamertag. So, if you happened to copy, say, your purchased copy of Marble Blast Ultra to another system, when the user ran the game, the signature check would fail and it would revert to trial mode. Ditto for gamerpics, etc., which would just fail to load.
Savegames, though, are NOT signed. So, if someone did release a save which was made right before a big gamerpoints event (say, beating the game on the highest setting), all you'd have to do is load the save and shoot the last bad guy or whatever to get the points.
My money's on this device NOT leading to any exploits. Msft has really done their homework on the 360, it's much more secure than the xbox1 was.
You can already do this, for free...

I so wish I could transfer the saves from my 40+ Xbox games over to my 360. At least the ones I have finished and work on the 360 :(
