Left 4 Dead 2 Unlock Guide

For those one or two people who forgot to boycott the game, Valve has updated the Left 4 Dead Blog (http://www.l4d.com/blog/) with a list of the times that Left 4 Dead 2 will unlock on Steam.

When L4D2 will go live:

• Monday, November 16th, 9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time
• Monday, November 16th, 10:00 PM Mountain Standard Time
• Monday, November 16th, 11:00 PM Central Standard Time
• Tuesday, November 17th, 12:00 AM (midnight) Eastern Standard Time
• Tuesday, November 17th, 5:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time
• Tuesday, November 17th, 8:00 AM Moscow Time
• Tuesday, November 17th, 2:00 PM Japan Standard Time

I was thinking that myself... Valve drops the ball on another release. Typical. The game is so small it only took about an hour to pre-load, but they can't release the darn thing on time.

There was a thread pointing out something similar in the subscribers forum and one thing you have to remember is that we have a metric ton of people who read the page every day and never bother to register. Those people may not have pitched in cash, but they are still our regular readers and have as much of a right to sign up and try out for a contest as anyone else.

Oh no, you're right of course ;) That post was completely tongue-in-cheek ;) I welcome all comers to post for the contests, it's a great way to get people active on the forums and convince lurkers to sign-up and participate--all excellent goals and ends :)

Honestly, I gave them the benefit of the doubt... They messed up BIG TIME with the demo.. but it's been half a month since. I honestly thought this release would have been smooth as silk. I'm starting to lose my faith

Why do these "pre-load and wait for the countdown" moments never, ever seem to work? What is it that short-circuits the whole process?

It's released. May have to restart steam a couple of times (decrypting would start then stop for me)

Why do these "pre-load and wait for the countdown" moments never, ever seem to work? What is it that short-circuits the whole process?
There's no internal integrity if you trust the client's system to release the game on the right day. So, you need them to log into an unlock-server on the proper day. This creates a predictable mad rush. And most people aren't clever enough to switch around their download server until they find one that works, so they sit there trying to reconnect over and over and over and make the problem worse for everyone :P That's my sense of it anyway.

I had that as well for a while, so I launched the game by joining someone in my friend list. The game list seems to be working again now though.

Played through the first campaign, Dead Center... yes the mall one. I've got to say, the campaign itself kind of disappointed me, but then again I was playing SP. You don't spend much time in the mall at all, and when you do, it's pretty dark. The finale is completely different than what we're used to as well... I won't get into specifics as to not spoil it, but it was cool.

Gun upgrades rule, Katana and Chainsaw rule, laser sight upgrades on the guns are awesome. lots of great touches and minor tweaks that make it feel better as a game.
